Join us on Skype
Lessons with Art Moore Studios use the Skype video software by Microsoft. You will need a Microsoft account to access the software. For piano or drum lessons, laptops work best. Please use the app itself, instead of using Skype through a web browser. Make sure to see the note below about noise cancellation on devices you use.
To join lessons through Skype:
Download the Skype app on your laptop, tablet, or phone.
Log into Skype with a Microsoft account. Note your password.
Search for your teacher:
ArtMooreStudios Art
ArtMooreStudios K (for Kiefer)
ArtMooreStudios Ethan
ArtMooreStudios Bella
Click the “Say hi with a wave” button.
When the call is active, turn off Noise Cancellation in Skype. (On Mobile Devices it is in the three dot menu. On computers, it is the arrow next to the microphone button at the bottom).
And you’re all done. Your teacher will reach out via phone or text if you haven’t gotten setup, and will call over Skype at your lesson time.
A few things you can do to help lessons go smoothly.
Make sure you have good wifi in your music lesson location.
Ensure that the music lesson space is quiet during lesson time.
Headphones may be necessary in lessons. Your teacher will let you know if they are and can make some suggestions on good headphones to get. We love this set of bluetooth headphones, they are inexpensive and work well. https://a.co/d/dfIxeWh
Install Skype on a secondary device (a phone is preferable). Things happen, and being logged into a second device is a good backup.
Note: A recent shift in technology in headsets, phones, laptops and in Skype itself is noise cancellation software. It has become so advanced, it can tell the difference between voice and instrument, and will suppress instruments. Please take time to learn about your noise cancellation software and turn it off for lessons.
On iPhones and iPads, here is a place to find out about mic modes. This option can only be changed once the Skype call is active. https://support.apple.com/en-us/101993
For Mac computers, here is link for the same: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/use-mic-modes-on-your-mac-mchle82b42f0/mac
