Policies

These are a few additional policies you should be aware of.

Cancelling Lessons

We don’t look forward to when students need to step away, either for a short time, or for a longer period, but we do have a method for finishing up with lessons.

We require, by email, one month notice from the first of the month for cancellation.

for example:

If you want June to be your last month, you need to inform us by June 1st by email. June’s tuition will be your last commitment to us.

If you want October to be your last month, you need to inform us by October 1st by email. October’s tuition would be your last commitment to us.

This policy helps keep our income stable, and protects our teachers. It also allows us the chance to fill open spots while we make the transition.

The last month’s lessons can be used by the student, or by a sibling or parent. We will work hard to make that last month worthwhile.

Practicing is a Personal Responsibility

In order to develop a love of music that will bring them joy for the rest of their lives, music needs to be the student's choice. This is why I have a “No Nag” practice policy for parents. Parents are allowed to remind students to practice once daily. After that, it is up to the student to take personal responsibility for their own improvement. We will work with each student to set age-appropriate practice goals (number of days and amount of time) in their lessons. Students will also be given assignments to listen to/watch audio and video recordings online to facilitate their music education. Don't be surprised if your student is watching YouTube videos and calling it “practice”!

Performing

Performing is a critical part of being a musician. A fall and a spring recital will be held each year to allow your student(s) to showcase their developing talents. There is a modest recital fee for each student charged by the date of the recital. This is to help pay for the recital space, accompaniment fees, and any equipment rental we might need. We prepare and encourage all students to perform on the recital.

Our recitals are run a little different than most studios. I like to think of them as “performance labs” than a strict and intense recital. Audiences are encouraged to bring the whole family. Cheering and yelling at appropriate times is encouraged. You won’t know what you will get on your recital as Singers, Pianists, Tuba players, Guitarists, Drummers are all possibilities. It keeps the recitals very interesting and fun. They run about 45-50 min, so they are appropriate for even the youngest of children.

Tuition Payment

Payments are handled by our payment processor, Fortis. Fortis is one of the largest and most secure payment processors available. Art will reach out via email for your first month’s payment, and after that, tuition will be deducted from your credit or debit card on the first of the month each month. Please reach out immediately with any issues you encounter. Tuition never changes month to month. While your commitment to us is month to month, the tuition is amortized over the entirety of the year, including teacher vacation weeks.

Tuition Amounts

Tuition is dependent on your teacher’s monthly rate.

Art - $150
Caleb - $120
Josi - $120
Ethan - $120

Teacher Vacations

Vacations are part of the year long program, and do not affect tuition rates.

The following dates are set for the entire studio:

Thanksgiving week - no lessons
Christmas week - no lessons
New Year’s week - no lessons

Art takes an additional 3 weeks off each year, the other teachers can take 4 weeks off each year, and students(parents) will be informed about 2 weeks before these vacation weeks.
